Overview
There are five main components to an SBE site:
CaaS environment – Container as a Service environment. Some flavor of Kubernetes orchestration will serve as the infrastructure where the SBE Platform will be hosted. Refer to Requirements for details.
Artifact Repository – holds the helm chart and docker image deployment artifacts that are used to install the SBE Platform. Besides using an internal Artifact Repository, these artifacts can be pulled directly from SBE Vision's Artifact Repository, among other options. Review those options in detail in the Requirements.
SBE Platform – The SBE Platform is made up of a fleet of microservices deployed in the CaaS environement, and includes any adapter microservices that enable the interoperability of Connected Systems.
Shared Services – also referred to by SBE Vision as "Backstage Services," these 6 dependent services comprise the Data Layer. Client-managed services are preferred. However, if needed, SBE can optionally deploy these services alongside the SBE Platform in a different namespace on the CaaS environment. In addition, a single set of Shared Services can support multiple instances of the SBE Platform. Refer to the Requirements for supported versions of each service.
Authoritative Systems of Truth (Connected Systems) – the systems that the SBE Platform connects to for the purpose of managing the digital thread.
Some connected systems may utilize an SBE Vision plugin (displayed as green boxes below) to interact with the digital thread. These plugins will need to be installed individually as the system is set up.
